Tips for FREE Family Fun!
Tips for FREE Family Fun!
Happy Thanksgiving from Family Room! 🧡
Reminder: We are CLOSED today, Friday, for the Thanksgiving holiday. *Normal hours on Saturday :)
1. It's okay to say to say "No" to your kids for buying things. You can also add: "We choose to budget our money for other things/experiences". Then make a short together of those 1-3 items or experiences. This creates early financial literacy, age appropriate awareness (no numbers needed) and goal setting / alignment.
2. Liquor stores and grocery stores have TONS of free boxes! Call ahead to get some set aside, bring them home, and you literally have HOURS of fort building fun. Even when your kids say no, just leave the boxes with some kid-friendly markers/crayons and walk away. No TV; let them put on their favorite music. I promise, they won't last 5 minutes before they start creating.
3. Ask your children what they like and don't like about holidays, share your feelings, and build your plan for this year. Maybe you can't get out of driving to the suburbs but you can use credit card points to get a hotel room with a pool for a staycation. Or pick a day for a breakfast-for-dinner homemade feast. Create your traditions starting now. You might find you all agree on what you like and don't like!
4. Before you go to bed, ask yourself AND your kids: "What gave me/you warmth today?"
Your joy is your children's joy. You all are ours. We can't wait to see you in a few days and hear all about your messy, hilarious holidays!
Happy Thanksgiving! (normal hours on Saturday)
